Incidentally, we had a blast last Friday and Saturday when Top Room had its first Jazz & Comedy event. We had an unprecendented turnout that saw nearly 150 people over two days. Not a huge number but, given that the room comfortably sits 60 on any given night, it was a major feat!
Kudos to theatre personalities, Shanthini Venugopal, Maya Tan-Abdullah & Edwin Sumun for taking the sink or swim route to Jazzland. And they not only swam... they lapped it up! Plans are underway for a revisit in October, post-Raya.
And while we're on the subject of Raya... what's Raya without the customary fasting period? Well, in light of that, the Top Room management has decided that (to respect the sanctity of Ramadan for their Muslim staff), they would cease operations from the eve of Puasa and resume normal business after Hari Raya.
So there you have it folks! You have all the more reason to visit the room these next three weeks to lessen the impact of this impending temporary separation.
