what a blast!

Well, if there's any word to describe last weekend's gig it'd have to be fantasmagoricallysuperb! We had a gorgeous 2 nights with, quite possibly, the best and most appreciative crowd the room's seen since it opened its doors nearly a year ago. Thank you all for joining us! What an indulgence to be in your company. And thank yous go to Jules, Eddie, Joe & Charles for making time to play with us. It's always a pleasure!

As well, we had a 9-year old boy, named Brian, who turned up on Saturday night and, man, was he watching intently as the band played throughout the night. Front row seat, mind you! And later on i found out that he liked jazz. And that, apparently, he also plays piano. So later in the night i managed to speak to him a little and told him that on Sundays, we usually have a jam session and, if he liked, he could come by and listen some more, and maybe even play a bit. He just looked at me with that innocence expected of a 9-year old and nodded. I thought that was the end of that.

Well as you probably guessed, he did turn up yesterday, much to his mother's consternation. She approached me minutes later asking, "what is happening today ah? Brian was bugging me all day saying he needed to be here at 5:30 but i don't know for what!?!" I then confessed that I was the culprit and I did tell him he could come to "jam" if he wanted. [I didn't think he WOULD take me seriously!!!]

See, i had absolutely no inkling what this boy could do but i figured if he could sit through Saturday night's gig, sitting within inches of the stage and glued to the musicians performing, then, we may be onto something. So anyway, we got him up on stage and, well... the kid COULD play. Check him out in the following videos. However, be warned that my video shooting capabilities are absolutely squat! But you can hear the audio and that's more important.

Brian takes the A-Train
! Brian boogies! Brian's Misty.

Now, how many 9-year olds do you know can play like this??? If you do, bring 'em over on Sundays! Bring 'em on, I say!

So you see folks, turning up for our Sunday afternoon jazz jams could really bring you some excitement! Yesterday's turnout got more than just one treat as we also had a Mr. Tony Bracco, a trumpeter from New York, who was in town for his annual Chinese New Year holiday with his wife, Michelle's, family. Here's a short snippet of them all on stage playing a, about to be recorded, original tune by David Gomes called Turn Around.

Enjoy!
