Nope. This post isn't about polygamy. Neither is it about that defunct quartet of the California Dreamin' fame. What we're talkin' about here is a triple weekend treat when Hard Drivin' Mama, Gina Panizales, & Top Room's Jazzmamma, Junji Delfino, take turns to deliver high resonance jazz together with Top Room's high priest, David Gomes.
Come & sizzle this Friday when Gina P takes centrestage and feel her burn, baby, burn!!! Listen & get mesmerized by this winsome lass as she switches between fluid Brazilian staples to, swingin' standards to git-down-&-dirty blues. No other singer in town can take you on such a high note as this chick!
On Saturday, Jazzmamma returns home to Top Room armed with a couple of new songs added to her already expansive repertoire. If you have yet to experience the thrill of listening to her, then wait no more. Make your way downtown this weekend before she heads down south with her Lover Man in July.
These two ladies of song will be accompanied by, none other than, Malaysia's top pianist/vocalist, David Gomes. Joining him are seasoned musos, Ismail bin Omar on bass & Yacob bin Madon on drums.
So swing on down to The Top Room this weekend and enjoy two excellent nights of jazz unlike anything you'll get around town.
First set starts at 10:30 pm on both nights. The bar is open till 2 am. Cover charge is RM20 nett.
But wait... I've been reprimanded for failing to (regularly) tell all & sundry that the Sunday jazz jam sessions have been going on full-steam for some 11 months now. [Never mind that there was a huge article about it in the press some months back.] However, I have to admit that not everyone is on my sms hit list, so if you have not known about it, I'm offering my sincerest apologies. And, yes! Our Sunday jam sessions are worth coming out of the house for. Especially if you're a budding musician or a frustrated Malaysian Idol. It's on every Sunday from 6 to 9 pm [flood or no flood]... no cover charge and happy hour prices on drinks! Now if that's not a good enough reason to jump into your car then... I don't know what is.
So folks, there you have it... a jazz-filled weekend awaits at The Top Room. Whatcha waitin' for? Call 03-21428611 or email info@top-hat-restaurants.com for reservations.
See you at The Top!
