That lovely lass with the mellifluous voice is back again to thrill Top Room regulars this weekend. Ida Mariana, backed by Eye2Eye Jazz Mix, will be crooning her way to your hearts this Friday & Saturday as we wrap up our anniversary month. Yes, it's been a year. Yippee!
We can't blame you if it escaped your notice but The Top Room turned a year old [minus the banners & confetti] on the 20th of March! And a number of people did ask, much to our chagrin, how The Top Room was doing and whether it was still around. I guess the fact that we had a slow start in 2006 led many to believe that we wouldn't make it past the 200th basket of free keropok we so diligently serve up, weekend after weekend. Well, such is the faith of many when it comes to the survival of dedicated jazz clubs such as ours. But we have greater faith in the power of the music to draw those who are hungry for the real thing.
And so this I have to say to those doubting Thomases... The Top Room is still around and will be around until the public decides to pursue other musical interests. And, perhaps, 'stead of watching in the sidelines waiting for the bells to signal the death toll, I suggest you guys jump right in and partake of the jazz spirit that permeates through our four walls. In fact, why not start this weekend with Ida & the jazzy mixers?
